THE MICHAEL O'HAIR FAMILY IN THE UNITED STATES 

The genealogy of Donald E. O'Hair from Michael O'Hair.

Michael O'Hair was born on September 11, 1749 in Newry Valley, County Down, Ireland.  He died in Hazel Green, Kentucky in 1813.  Here came to the United States in 1761 in the first wave of Irish coming to American. This first immigration was from  Northern Ireland. He fought in the Revolutionary War for the Union.  He married first in October 15, 1779 to Eleanor Hawkins.  They had one son Thomas to carry the O'Hair name and three daughters. Thomas had four sons, William, Johathan,  John, and Michael in addition to four daughters. This line of the O'Hair family has continued.  Two of the descendents, Harrel and his son, John O'Hair, moved from California back to Ireland eight years ago.  Harrel died April 16, 2005 and John, his wife, and children live in Templemore, County Tipperary, Ireland.

The second marriage of Michael O'Hair was in April 4, 1793 to Elizebeth Tribbett. They had ten children.  John, Michael, Jr., James E.M., William, Washington and Harrison  (twins) carried on the family name.

John O'Hair was born September 25, 1796 in Montgomery County, Kentucky and died in Edgar County, Illinois.  He was married twice.  There were four children from this marriage: Ellen, Sibby, Sidney, and Bill.  He was married again on October 20, 1830 to Elizabeth Hardwick. From that second marriage John O'Hair had nine children. The first born was Michael Elsberry on February 22, 1829 in Edgar County, Illinois and died in Coles County, Illinois in August 13, 1914.

Michael Elsberry had seven children.  The fifth born and the third male was Harvey Zink O'Hair.  Harvey Zink married Ida Craig on November 21, 1889 in Bushton (Coles County), Illinois and had six children, Claude Z. (died after three months), Zollie Perle, Gertrude Craig, Devona Rebecca, Elsberry Lafayette, Florence Mae (died at age 26).

Elsberry O'Hair married Ruth Fawley O'Hair December 23, 1933 at Springfield, Illinois. They had one child, Donald Ellsberry O'Hair, born June 19, 1936. Ruth Fawley O'Hair was born September 3, 1905 in Casey, Illinois, and died September 24, 1990 in Springfield, Illinois. Elsberry Lafayette O'Hair was born April 16, 1902 in Bushton, Illinois, and died September 11, 1992 in La Jolla, California, at the age of 90.

Donald E. O'Hair married Marilyn Kay Justice on August 31, 1958 in Valparaiso, Indiana.  Donald and Marilyn have two children: Amy Lynne, born May 16, 1962 and John Michael, born April 29, 1964.  Amy Lynne married on November 14, 1993 to Andrew Sherman in San Francisco, California.  Amy and Andrew have one child born April 13, 1996 in San Francisco named Grace O'Hair-Sherman. John Michael married Antonia Cacciatori on November 12, 2000.
