the Episcopal Church, the Moravian Church, and the United Evangelical

Responsibilities
as Campus Minister:
Teaching: New
Testament, psychology of religion, educational psychology, modern
literature, and Transactional Analysis. Consultation: Consultant to
faculty and staff and resident hall advisors at Northern Illinois
University. Also consultant to the Illinois Department of Mental
Health, Elgin Illinois Public Schools, the Midwest Ecumenical Training
Association, and local church organizations.
Editor:
Published the EDGE magazine from 1966 to 1969 through the campus
ministry. It was an opinion magazine designed to create ferment
within the academic community over such issues as academic freedom,
student responsibility, and the war in Vietnam. Preaching:
Occasional Sunday preaching was done to help acquaint the area church
with the needs of the Campus Ministry at Northern Illinois University.
Director: Center
for Human Resources (CHR): Responsible for the creation of a Growth
Center as part of the Campus Ministry. Weekend training events were
conducted in personal growth, organizational development, couples
enrichment groups, and T-groups.
Counseling:
Responsibilities included counseling with students and faculty on
vocational, religious and emotional problems and issues.
Counselor to the NIU Health Center for women with problem
pregnancies.
1961 to 1964: MINISTER OF EDUCATION, Center and United
Churches-on-the-Green, New Haven, Connecticut. Responsibilities
included administration and training for the combined Christian
Education program of Center and United Churches; leadership for an
ecumenical senior high group composed of four downtown churches;
coordinated a summer church school program for inner-city, low-income
family children; worked with area clergy to develop non-discriminative
practices in New Haven.
Started the ministry to college-age youth through the EXIT
COFFEEHOUSE in the Yale University community; coordinated youth
activities in the Yale University campus ministry; advised the Youth
for Brotherhood interfaith youth movement in New Haven; counselor to
youth and adults in the local church and at the summer senior high
camp-conferences; preached on a monthly basis.
1958 to 1961: MINISTER, Pembroke Christian Church (Disciples), Corfu,
New York. Responsibilities included weekly preaching,
administration, weekly Bible instruction, youth leadership, pastoral
care and counseling, instructor for the Batavia Council of Church
School of Religion.
